The lockdown starting Friday will last at least a month.

Under the terms of the lockdown, staying at home will be mandatory, including for work, and fines for not complying with rules such as wearing masks in the street will double, according to the prime minister's statement.

  • National travel restrictions enacted under the current state of emergency will be lifted for one day on January 17, when early voting will be allowed, and on election day. 
  • International travel - Before traveling, the visitor must obtain and confirm information about the procedures and restrictions in the countries of origin and destination, from the airline and foreign and border services.
  • Flights between Portugal and other destinations will only be allowed for essential trips. In this case, the passenger must present a negative test to COVID-19 (RT-PCR), carried out up to 72 hours before departure time.
  • Flights to and from the European Union and the Schengen Area - The resumption of air routes with the countries of the European Union, as well as in the Schengen Area, is dependent on border restrictions and the evolution of the epidemiological situation worldwide.
