Fantastic location - loved being a few blocks away from both Old Town and City Centre - Sarmite was a very considerate host and we had no issues with the place.

Neighborhood
Most retail and restaurants were down a hill a few blocks away so be prepared to go uphill on your return. The grocery store was within that range and was very convenient. As far as the hills are concerned, most of Funchal can be described that way so it is what it is. There's a convenient store around the corner which we never actually visited but seemed convenient.

We would recommend a restaurant, Bella 5, and a snack bar, Bar Number Two. Both of them were toward the cable car. We enjoyed two other restaurants - Visconte and Vera Cruz - which are toward the City Centre.

Large open-plan with a nice view and relatively easy walk into the centre of town. The slanted ceiling in the shower is a bit low but as long as you're not taller than 180cm it's fine

A quiet, safe, and pleasant neighborhood with good infrastructure. Everything you need for daily life is nearby, and the area feels calm and comfortable. City center/ old city is ~ 15mins. away by walking. At the same time you don't hear the city noise. It is perfect location.

I recommend visiting the Madeira Botanical garden, as well as the cable car and the Old town, all within walking distance.

Sarmite was wonderful to communicate with. The apartment is very pleasant, clean, has all the necessary amenities and is walking distance to everything - shops, grocery, restaurants, mall, beach and lots of places to explore. I felt very safe walking around even late at night. Thanks again for everything - I would definitely stay again.

Explore Doca do Cavacas Natural Pools, Lido Promenade, the area is filled with delightful adventures. I did do some guided hikes in the area and they are breathtakingly beautiful. Including sunrise hike at Pico Grande.
