On Flatio since October 2026
A restored stone house in Fourni, a quiet village in the hills of eastern Crete: 15 minutes from Elounda and Plaka, 50 minutes from Heraklion airport. The whole house is yours, 67 m² on two floors, for up to 4 guests. Long ago it was Fourni’s kafeneio, the village café, and the family who ran it slept upstairs. Today it’s made for slow stays and remote work, in every season.
Ground floor: Open the door and the wood stove is right there, with a comfy sofa facing it, a TV and vintage bulbs overhead. The kitchen has a long worktop, an oven, hob, fridge, freezer and dishwasher, plus a few spices to get you started. The table seats four, and there’s a guest WC with washbasin.
Upstairs: A spiral staircase leads to the bedroom, with a very comfortable double bed and a wardrobe. The en-suite bathroom has a renovated shower and the washing machine (no dryer, but a drying rack). A short stair climbs to a cosy mezzanine under a roof window, with two single beds; it’s half open to the bedroom and the ceiling is low. The south-facing balcony has two young bougainvilleas.
Work: Wifi reaches both floors at around 180 Mbps down and 20–30 up, with an Ethernet port on each floor for video calls.
Warm in winter, cool in summer. Air conditioning heats and cools on both floors. In winter, the wood stove warms the house and feeds the radiators. It takes small logs only; firewood isn’t included, but there’s a small stock for your first fires. Hot water is solar, with an electric heater for grey days.

The village and around. Fourni sits 320 m up among olive groves, with a small church, cafés and tavernas, and evenings that stay cool even in August. A car is the easiest way to get around: Neapoli, the nearest town for shopping, 10 min · Elounda 15 min · Plaka and the boats to Spinalonga 15 min · Agios Nikolaos 20 min · Kritsa 30 min · Voulisma beach 30 min · the Lasithi Plateau under an hour. Free parking on the little square, 50 m from the house.
Arrival: Self check-in with a key box, any time from 3 pm. Check-out by 11 am; ask me ahead if you need more time.
Good to know: No smoking indoors and no parties, and please keep voices low after 11 pm: the village is quiet at night. Toilet paper goes in the bin, never in the toilet, or the pipes block. The stairs aren’t ideal for guests with limited mobility, and young children need an eye on them.

We recommend parking there rather than driving down the lane to the house: it’s narrow and you would have to reverse back out. A car is essential to explore the area (beaches, Elounda, Agios Nikolaos and further).

How you can cancel a booking varies depending on what stage the booking is in.
Is your booking request still waiting for host approval? Then you can simply cancel it directly from your My Housing web app!
However, suppose the owner has already approved your booking request, and you are no longer interested in it. In that case, you can still cancel the booking before you sign the lease agreement. Just consider that you should do this only in essential cases. Because when the host accepts your booking, the property is stopped being advertised, and they can lose the chance to rent their property to someone else.
Do you have an approved booking and also a valid agreement? In order to cancel your booking, contact Flatio customer support well in advance of your contract beginning (the specific time and amount of refund depends on the type of cancelation policy).
